Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: January 1, 2026
1. Purpose of This Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") defines the rules governing how users may interact with and submit content to the LabsFive service. It exists for one core reason: LabsFive is a service built to help individuals understand their own health data — not to process, analyze, or distribute the health data of others without their knowledge or consent.
Health data is among the most sensitive categories of personal information that exists. A clinical lab result reveals intimate details about a person's body, physiology, and potentially their medical history. Misuse of such data — whether through unauthorized access, fraudulent submission, or commercial exploitation — causes real harm to real people.
This Policy is not a list of bureaucratic restrictions. It is a framework for ensuring that every person who uses LabsFive receives a service designed around their interests and their data alone. By using our Service, you agree to be bound by this Policy in its entirety. Violations may result in immediate termination of service without refund, and in serious cases, referral to appropriate legal authorities.
2. Who This Policy Applies To
This Policy applies to every individual who:
- Visits or browses the LabsFive website
- Creates an account or user profile on LabsFive.com
- Submits any document, file, image, or data through our Service
- Completes a purchase of any LabsFive report
- Accesses or downloads a report generated by our Service
- Contacts LabsFive through any support or communication channel
By taking any of the above actions, you represent that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with this Policy. If you are using the Service on behalf of another person with their explicit authorization — as described in Section 6 — this Policy applies equally to you and to your use of their data.
If you do not agree with any provision of this Policy, you must immediately discontinue use of the Service.
3. Acceptable and Unacceptable Documents
We ACCEPT these documents
- Clinical laboratory results issued by a licensed medical laboratory — including but not limited to blood panels, metabolic panels, comprehensive metabolic panels (CMP), basic metabolic panels (BMP), complete blood counts (CBC), lipid panels, thyroid panels (TSH, T3, T4), hormone panels, vitamin and mineral panels, iron studies, liver function tests, kidney function tests, urinalysis reports, and HbA1c tests
- Lab results from any licensed clinic, hospital, diagnostic laboratory, or physician's office, regardless of country of origin
- Lab results printed and scanned, photographed clearly, or provided as a digital PDF directly from the issuing laboratory
- Lab results that include the patient's name, the issuing laboratory's name, the date of the test, and the specific biomarker values with their corresponding units and reference ranges
- Lab results in English or Spanish — additional languages are evaluated on a case-by-case basis
We DO NOT accept these documents
- Lab results belonging to another person that you are submitting without their explicit written consent and without being their legally authorized representative — see Section 6
- Documents that have been digitally altered, edited, annotated, or modified in any way after issuance by the laboratory
- Photographs of lab results that are blurry, partially cut off, overexposed, underexposed, or otherwise illegible — submissions of this nature will result in an incomplete interpretation for which LabsFive is not liable
- Documents that are not clinical laboratory results — including but not limited to: prescriptions, imaging reports (X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, ultrasounds), pathology reports, physician consultation notes, hospital discharge summaries, insurance documents, or any other non-laboratory medical document
- Documents generated by consumer health devices not issued by a licensed laboratory — including results from home test kits not processed by a CLIA-certified laboratory, fitness tracker health scores, smartwatch biometric readings, or app-generated health estimates
- Fabricated, falsified, or AI-generated lab result documents of any kind
- Documents in a file format other than JPG, JPEG, PNG, or PDF
- Files exceeding the maximum upload size displayed at the time of submission
- Any document that does not contain identifiable clinical biomarker values — for example, a document that is entirely text without numerical values or measurement units
When in doubt about whether your document qualifies, contact us at support@labsfive.com before purchasing. We will review your document type and confirm eligibility at no charge. Submitting an ineligible document without prior confirmation may result in a non-refundable processing fee if the document was received and reviewed before the ineligibility was identified.
4. Document Quality Requirements
Beyond document type eligibility, the technical quality of your submission directly affects the quality of your interpretation. The following requirements apply to all submissions:
4.1 PDF Documents
PDFs must be text-searchable (not scanned image PDFs) where possible, as this enables more accurate data extraction. If your PDF is a scanned image, ensure it is high resolution — minimum 150 DPI recommended. All pages of a multi-page lab report should be included in a single PDF file.
4.2 Photographed Documents
If submitting a photograph of a printed lab result:
- Photograph must be taken in good lighting — natural daylight or bright indoor light. No flash glare.
- The document must lay flat — no curled edges, no shadows across the text.
- All four corners of the document must be visible in the frame.
- All text, numbers, and units must be legible at 100% zoom without magnification.
- The photo must be taken perpendicular to the document — not at an angle.
4.3 Completeness
Your submission must include the full lab report — not a partial photograph or a cropped section. LabsFive interprets values in context. Omitting reference ranges, units of measurement, or the laboratory header may result in an incomplete or less accurate interpretation.
4.4 Personal Information Included
Your document must include your name and the date of the test as issued. LabsFive uses this information solely to confirm that the document belongs to you and to contextualize the timing of your results. This information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
5. Prohibited Actions
The following actions are strictly prohibited when using LabsFive. Each represents a violation of this Policy, our Terms of Service, or applicable law.
Submitting Another Person's Lab Results Without Authorization
Uploading lab results that belong to someone other than yourself without their explicit written consent and without being their legally authorized representative (such as a legal guardian or holder of medical power of attorney). This is a violation of privacy law in most jurisdictions and constitutes unauthorized processing of sensitive health data.
Submitting Altered or Falsified Documents
Uploading any lab document that has been digitally edited, values have been changed, identifying information has been altered, or that has been partially or wholly fabricated. This includes AI-generated lab result documents designed to simulate real clinical output.
Commercial Resale of Reports
Using LabsFive-generated reports for commercial purposes — including reselling reports to third parties, offering interpretation services based on LabsFive output, or incorporating LabsFive content into a paid product or service — without express written permission from LabsFive.
Reverse Engineering Our Methodology
Attempting to extract, replicate, or reverse-engineer the prompts, algorithms, scoring methodologies, or AI instructions underlying LabsFive's interpretation engine through any means, including submitting test documents designed to probe the system's logic.
Automated or Bulk Submissions
Using bots, scripts, automated tools, or any non-human mechanism to submit documents, create accounts, initiate payments, or interact with any part of the LabsFive Service. All submissions must be initiated by a human user acting on their own behalf.
Creating Multiple Accounts to Circumvent Policy
Creating multiple LabsFive accounts for the purpose of circumventing any restriction, abuse prevention measure, or policy enforcement action — including but not limited to attempting to receive a refund after being denied one, or submitting documents that were previously rejected.
Misrepresenting Your Identity
Providing false personal information — including a false name, age, or email address — at the time of submission. Age and biological sex information directly affects the accuracy of your interpretation. Providing false information degrades the quality of your report and transfers full liability for any resulting inaccuracy to you.
Using the Service for Legal or Insurance Purposes
Submitting lab results with the intent to use the LabsFive interpretation as evidence in legal proceedings, insurance claims, disability determinations, employment screenings, or any other formal or official process. LabsFive reports are educational documents and carry no legal, clinical, or official evidentiary weight.
Unauthorized System Access
Attempting to gain unauthorized access to any portion of LabsFive's infrastructure, servers, databases, or administrative systems — including through SQL injection, cross-site scripting, credential stuffing, brute force attacks, or any other technical means.
Abusive Conduct Toward Our Team
Engaging in threatening, harassing, discriminatory, or abusive conduct toward any LabsFive team member through any communication channel. We are a small team and we reserve the right to refuse service to any individual who engages in abusive behavior, without refund.
6. Submitting Documents on Behalf of Others
LabsFive recognizes that there are legitimate circumstances in which one person may need to submit lab results on behalf of another — for example, a parent managing the health of a dependent adult child, a legal guardian, or a holder of medical power of attorney.
Submitting lab results on behalf of another person is permitted only when all of the following conditions are met:
- You are the legally authorized representative of the person whose lab results you are submitting — such as a legal guardian, holder of durable medical power of attorney, or court-appointed representative
- You have the explicit, informed, and documented consent of that person (or the legal authority to act without their consent in the case of incapacity)
- You provide accurate personal information about the person whose labs you are submitting — their age, biological sex, and name — not your own
- You understand and accept that the report will be generated based on the data of the other person, and that all privacy obligations regarding that data fall to you as the submitting party
Submitting a family member's, friend's, colleague's, or any other person's lab results without meeting the above conditions is a violation of this Policy and potentially of applicable privacy and health data law, regardless of your relationship to that person or your intentions.
If you are unsure whether your situation qualifies, contact us at support@labsfive.com before submitting.
7. Minors
LabsFive does not provide services to individuals under the age of 18. This restriction applies both to:
- Minors creating their own accounts and submitting their own lab results — this is not permitted under any circumstances
- Adults submitting the lab results of a minor child — this is not permitted through our standard Service
We recognize that parents and guardians have a legitimate interest in understanding their children's lab results. However, the clinical interpretation of pediatric lab values involves age-specific reference ranges, developmental considerations, and clinical context that falls outside the scope of our current Service design.
If you are a parent or guardian of a minor and wish to understand your child's lab results, we strongly recommend consulting directly with a pediatrician or family physician who is equipped to interpret results in the context of your child's specific age and developmental stage.
If we discover that a minor's data has been submitted to our Service — whether by the minor directly or by an adult on their behalf — we will immediately delete all associated data and issue a full refund of any amounts paid. Please contact privacy@labsfive.com if you believe a minor's data has been submitted.
8. Consequences of Violation
Violations of this Policy are taken seriously and may result in one or more of the following consequences, applied at the sole discretion of LabsFive based on the nature and severity of the violation:
- Immediate service termination: Your access to the Service is revoked without prior notice and without refund of any amounts paid
- Report withholding: If a violation is identified before your report is delivered, we will withhold delivery and investigate before proceeding
- Permanent account ban: You are permanently prohibited from creating future accounts or using our Service in any capacity
- Legal referral: In cases involving fraudulent document submission, unauthorized processing of third-party health data, or systematic abuse of our platform, we reserve the right to refer the matter to appropriate legal authorities and to pursue civil remedies
- Chargeback dispute: If you initiate a chargeback following a violation-based service termination, we will contest the dispute with full documentation of the violation
We apply these consequences proportionately. A low-quality document submission is handled differently from deliberate fraud. Our goal is never punitive — it is protective of the Service and of every user who depends on it.
9. Reporting Misuse
If you believe that LabsFive is being misused — including if you believe that your own lab results have been submitted to our Service without your authorization — please contact us immediately:
Email: abuse@labsfive.com
Subject line: "Misuse Report — [brief description]"
Include as much detail as possible: what you observed, when it occurred, and any identifying information that may help us investigate. We treat all misuse reports confidentially and respond within 24 hours.
If you believe your health data has been submitted without your consent, we will:
- Immediately suspend processing of any report associated with your data
- Delete all copies of your submitted document from our systems
- Notify you of the outcome of our investigation within 72 hours
- Refer the matter to appropriate authorities if the misuse constitutes a violation of applicable privacy law
10. Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to update this Acceptable Use Policy at any time to reflect changes in our Service, evolving best practices, or new categories of misuse we identify. Material changes will be communicated by:
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
- Posting a notice on our website homepage for a minimum of 30 days
- Emailing users who have transacted with us in the prior 90 days
Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy. If you do not agree with a material change, you must discontinue use of the Service before the effective date.
