Professional Use Disclaimer

Last updated: August 11, 2026

LabsFive for Doctors produces an AI-generated draft for your review. It is not a diagnostic tool, it does not exercise clinical judgment, and the reviewing physician is solely and always responsible for any report shared with a patient.

1. Overview

This Professional Use Disclaimer governs your use of LabsFive for Doctors (the "Portal") and is a binding component of our Terms of Service. It is presented as a standalone document because it addresses the single most important boundary in this product: the difference between a tool that helps you communicate and a tool that makes clinical decisions for you.

LabsFive for Doctors exists to save you time drafting patient-facing explanations of lab results — not to exercise, replace, or share in your clinical judgment. Please read this disclaimer in full before generating your first report.

2. What LabsFive for Doctors Is

The Portal is a professional productivity tool. Specifically, it:

  • Accepts a lab document and basic patient context (age, sex, and optional clinical notes) that you provide
  • Uses an AI language model to draft a plain-language explanation of the biomarker values in that document
  • Formats that draft into a downloadable, patient-facing PDF report
  • Organizes your generated reports in a dashboard for your own recordkeeping

Every part of this process produces a draft for you, the licensed physician, to review before you decide whether, how, and when to share it with your patient.

3. What LabsFive for Doctors Is Not

  • Not a diagnostic tool. The Portal does not diagnose any condition and is not intended to inform your own diagnostic reasoning.
  • Not clinical decision support in the regulated sense. The Portal is not designed, validated, or represented as a clinical decision-support system, and has not been reviewed or cleared by the FDA or any equivalent regulatory body.
  • Not a second opinion. The AI's output reflects patterns in language and general reference-range data — not an independent clinical assessment of your specific patient.
  • Not a substitute for your review of the source document. The Portal is not a replacement for reading and interpreting the original lab document yourself.
  • Not a party to your relationship with your patient. LabsFive has no clinical relationship with, and no independent duty of care toward, any patient whose data is submitted through your account.

4. The Reviewing Physician Is Always Responsible

We state this plainly and without qualification: you, the physician using the Portal, are solely and entirely responsible for every report you choose to share with a patient.

Before sharing any report:

  • Review its content against the original lab document for accuracy
  • Confirm it is appropriate given your patient's full clinical picture, including information the Portal was never given (medical history, symptoms, medications not entered, prior results)
  • Apply your own independent clinical judgment about whether the report, as drafted, is fit to share as-is, needs correction, or should not be shared at all

Generating a report through the Portal does not constitute a medical determination, does not transfer any portion of your professional responsibility to LabsFive, and does not reduce your obligations under your applicable standard of care, licensing board requirements, or malpractice exposure. You use the Portal as a drafting aid within your own professional practice — the practice, and the responsibility for it, remain entirely yours.

5. No Doctor-Patient Relationship With LabsFive

Your use of the Portal does not create a doctor-patient relationship, or any other clinical relationship, between LabsFive and you, or between LabsFive and any patient whose data you submit. LabsFive has no knowledge of, and no relationship with, your patients beyond the data you choose to submit for a specific report.

6. Limitations of AI-Generated Content

The AI system used by the Portal has the same inherent limitations any language model has when applied to clinical content:

  • It only knows what you tell it. It has no access to your patient's full chart, history, medications, or your own clinical impressions unless you explicitly include them.
  • It can make errors. AI systems can generate confidently stated but incorrect content. We take steps to minimize this, but cannot guarantee every statement in every draft is accurate.
  • Reference ranges are general. The ranges used to contextualize values are population-level benchmarks, not adjusted for your specific patient's individual clinical picture beyond age and sex.
  • Medical knowledge evolves. The underlying AI model has a training cutoff and may not reflect the most current clinical guidance at the time you generate a report.

This is precisely why your review, described in Section 4, is not optional.

7. Patient Consent Is Your Responsibility

LabsFive has no relationship with, and does not verify consent from, your patients. Before submitting a patient's lab document and information through the Portal, you are responsible for determining that doing so is consistent with whatever consent, authorization, or legal basis your own jurisdiction and professional obligations require.

8. Not for Emergency or Urgent Findings

The Portal is not designed for, and must not be used in connection with, any lab result requiring urgent or emergency clinical action. If a result requires immediate attention, act on it through your normal clinical workflow — do not wait for or rely on a Portal-generated report.

9. Reliance on Report Content

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, LabsFive disclaims all liability for any harm arising from a report shared with a patient without the independent professional review required by Section 4, or from any decision made by you or your patient in reliance on report content. This reflects a genuine and material limitation of what the Portal can responsibly claim to do — not an attempt to avoid accountability for what is actually within our control (the technical reliability of the tool itself).

10. Scope of This Disclaimer

This disclaimer applies to all reports generated through the Portal and all related communications. It is incorporated into our Terms of Service and, on matters of clinical responsibility specifically, controls over any conflicting provision elsewhere in our published materials.
