Medical Disclaimer
Last updated: January 1, 2026
1. Overview
This Medical Disclaimer governs your use of the services provided by LabsFive at LabsFive.com. It is a binding component of our Terms of Service and is presented as a standalone document due to the sensitive nature of health-related information.
LabsFive exists to help people understand their own laboratory results — to translate the often opaque language of clinical data into something clear, accessible, and actionable. We believe that informed patients make better decisions and have better conversations with their healthcare providers.
However, understanding what a biomarker means in general is categorically different from knowing what it means for you specifically, in the context of your health history, your symptoms, your medications, and your unique physiology. That level of contextual interpretation is the domain of licensed medical professionals — not of any AI system, however sophisticated.
This disclaimer exists to make that boundary absolutely clear. Please read it in its entirety before using our Service. By submitting your lab results and completing a purchase, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted the terms of this Medical Disclaimer.
2. What LabsFive Is
LabsFive is a health technology platform that uses artificial intelligence to generate educational interpretations of clinical laboratory results. Specifically, we:
- Analyze the biomarker values contained in the lab document you upload
- Compare those values against established clinical reference ranges
- Provide plain-language explanations of what each biomarker measures and what it is generally associated with
- Highlight values that fall outside standard reference ranges and explain what that may generally indicate
- Offer general lifestyle, nutritional, and wellness context associated with specific biomarker patterns
- Suggest relevant questions you may wish to raise with your healthcare provider
- Deliver this information in a clear, visually organized PDF report sent to your email address
Everything LabsFive produces is designed to help you arrive at your next medical appointment better informed — not to replace that appointment.
3. What LabsFive Is Not
It is equally important to understand what LabsFive is not. We are not:
- A medical practice. LabsFive is a technology company. We are not a clinic, hospital, medical group, or any form of licensed healthcare provider or institution.
- A diagnostic service. We do not diagnose disease, disorder, condition, or any medical state — in any form, explicit or implied.
- A treatment provider. We do not recommend, prescribe, or endorse any treatment, therapy, procedure, medication, or intervention of any kind.
- A substitute for a doctor. Nothing we provide should be interpreted as replacing, supplementing, or delaying your consultation with a qualified and licensed medical professional.
- A second opinion. Our interpretations are not a clinical second opinion. They are educational context. A true medical second opinion requires a licensed physician who has reviewed your complete medical history.
- A monitoring service. LabsFive does not provide ongoing monitoring of your health. Each report is a one-time interpretation of the specific document submitted and reflects no longitudinal clinical assessment.
- A regulated medical device. Our Service has not been reviewed, cleared, or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the European Medicines Agency (EMA), or any equivalent regulatory body in any jurisdiction.
- An emergency resource. LabsFive is not equipped to respond to medical emergencies of any kind. If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call your local emergency services immediately.
4. No Doctor-Patient Relationship
Your use of LabsFive does not create a doctor-patient relationship, a therapist-client relationship, a pharmacist-patient relationship, or any other form of professional healthcare relationship between you and LabsFive, its employees, contractors, affiliates, or any individual involved in the operation of this Service.
No such relationship is created by:
- Visiting our website
- Creating an account
- Submitting your lab results
- Completing a payment
- Receiving and reading your report
- Contacting our support team
- Any communication of any kind with LabsFive
The absence of a professional healthcare relationship means that LabsFive has no duty of care toward you in a clinical sense. The information we provide carries none of the legal, ethical, or fiduciary obligations that govern the advice of a licensed healthcare professional.
This is not a limitation we impose carelessly — it is an honest reflection of what our Service is and is not. We encourage you to seek and maintain relationships with qualified healthcare providers who know you, your history, and your individual circumstances.
5. Not a Substitute for Professional Medical Care
We state this plainly and without qualification: LabsFive is not a substitute for professional medical care.
No AI system — regardless of sophistication, training data, or output quality — can replicate the clinical judgment of a licensed physician who has physically examined you, reviewed your complete medical history, considered your current medications and supplements, assessed your symptoms in person, and applied years of specialized medical training to your individual situation.
Lab results exist within a clinical context. The same value that is completely unremarkable in one patient may be highly significant in another, depending on factors that no report — AI-generated or otherwise — can fully account for without direct clinical engagement.
If you have received lab results that concern you, that contain values outside reference ranges, or that your doctor has flagged as requiring attention — please consult your doctor. Do not delay, defer, or replace that consultation with a LabsFive report.
LabsFive is a tool to help you engage more productively with your healthcare provider — not a tool to avoid engaging with one.
6. Limitations of AI-Generated Interpretations
Our Service uses a large language model AI system to generate interpretations. While this technology is capable of producing detailed, coherent, and often accurate educational content, it has inherent and significant limitations that you must understand before relying on any output:
6.1 The AI does not know you.
The AI interprets the values in the document you provide. It has no knowledge of your medical history, your family history, your current or past medications, your symptoms, your lifestyle, your prior lab results, or any other aspect of your individual health context. Its interpretation is necessarily generic in the sense that it cannot account for what makes your situation unique.
6.2 The AI can produce errors.
AI language models can generate content that is confidently stated but factually incorrect — a phenomenon known as hallucination. While we take significant steps to minimize this risk through prompt design and quality review, we cannot guarantee that every statement in every report is medically accurate, current, or complete.
6.3 Reference ranges are population-level guidelines.
The reference ranges used to contextualize your values are general population benchmarks. They are not universally applicable. Reference ranges can vary by laboratory, by methodology, by population, by age group, by sex, by ethnicity, and by clinical context. A value that falls outside a standard reference range may be perfectly normal for you — and a value within range may still be clinically significant given your individual circumstances.
6.4 The AI does not account for dynamic health states.
Lab values can be affected by hydration status, recent meals, physical activity, sleep, stress, time of day, and many other factors. The AI interprets the static value you have submitted and cannot account for the conditions under which the sample was collected.
6.5 Medical knowledge evolves.
Clinical guidelines, reference ranges, and the interpretation of specific biomarkers are subject to ongoing revision as medical research advances. Our AI system is trained on data up to a specific cutoff date and may not reflect the most current clinical guidance at the time you receive your report.
7. No Diagnosis, No Treatment, No Prescription
LabsFive does not and cannot, under any circumstances:
- Diagnose any disease, disorder, syndrome, condition, or medical state — including but not limited to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, thyroid disorders, autoimmune conditions, hormonal imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, organ dysfunction, or any form of cancer
- Recommend any specific medical treatment, clinical procedure, surgical intervention, or therapeutic approach
- Prescribe or suggest any prescription medication, controlled substance, or regulated pharmaceutical product
- Endorse any specific supplement, nutraceutical, or over-the-counter product as a treatment for any condition identified in your report
- Advise you to start, stop, or modify any medication or treatment currently prescribed by your physician
- Predict your future health outcomes based on current lab values
- Assess your risk for any specific disease or condition with clinical reliability
Any language in your report that discusses associations between biomarker values and health conditions is strictly educational and descriptive — it reflects general scientific and clinical knowledge, not a clinical assessment of your individual health status.
If your report mentions that a specific value is commonly associated with a particular condition, this is not a statement that you have that condition. Only a licensed physician can make that determination.
8. Emergency Situations
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, stop reading this page and call your local emergency services immediately.
- In the United States, call 911.
- In Mexico, call 911.
- In the United Kingdom, call 999.
- In the European Union, call 112.
- For all other countries, contact your local emergency services.
LabsFive is not an emergency service. We do not monitor submissions in real time. We do not have the capacity to respond to urgent or time-sensitive health situations. Our standard delivery window of up to 15 minutes means that our Service is categorically unsuitable for situations requiring immediate medical attention.
If your lab results contain values that your doctor or the ordering laboratory has flagged as critically abnormal or requiring urgent attention, please contact your physician or seek emergency care before waiting for a LabsFive report.
Do not use LabsFive as a triage tool. It was not designed for that purpose and is not capable of serving that function.
9. Accuracy and Completeness
LabsFive makes no representations or warranties — express or implied — regarding the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, reliability, or suitability of the interpretations contained in your report.
Specifically:
- We do not warrant that our AI system will correctly interpret every value in your submitted document
- We do not warrant that all biomarkers present in your document will be identified and addressed in the report
- We do not warrant that the general health information provided in your report reflects the most current clinical guidelines at the time of delivery
- We do not warrant that the interpretation of your specific values is clinically appropriate given your individual health context
- We do not warrant that values identified as within normal range are clinically insignificant for your individual situation
- We do not warrant that values identified as outside normal range are clinically significant for your individual situation
Your report should be treated as a starting point for further inquiry with your healthcare provider — not as a definitive clinical assessment.
10. Individual Variation
Human biology is profoundly individual. Two people can present identical lab values and have entirely different clinical pictures. The same biomarker value can be normal for one person and abnormal for another, depending on genetic factors, age, sex, ethnicity, body composition, physical fitness, dietary patterns, chronic conditions, and numerous other variables.
LabsFive's AI interprets your values in the context of your stated age and biological sex. These are the only individual variables we incorporate into your report. We do not have access to — and therefore cannot account for — any other aspect of your individual biology or health history.
This means that our interpretations are necessarily more general than a clinical interpretation provided by a physician who knows you. We are transparent about this limitation because we believe you deserve to understand exactly what you are receiving.
Our goal is to give you more context than you had before — not to give you clinical certainty. That certainty is only available through professional medical evaluation.
11. Medications and Supplements
Many medications, supplements, vitamins, and herbal products can significantly affect laboratory values — sometimes dramatically. Common examples include:
- Biotin (Vitamin B7) supplementation, which can interfere with thyroid and cardiac biomarker assays
- Statins and other lipid-lowering medications, which affect lipid panel values
- Corticosteroids, which affect glucose, white blood cell counts, and numerous other values
- Hormonal contraceptives and hormone replacement therapy, which affect sex hormone levels and other markers
- Iron supplementation, which affects iron studies and ferritin
- Diuretics, which affect electrolyte levels
- Anticoagulants, which affect coagulation studies
LabsFive does not have access to your medication or supplement history. Our AI cannot and does not account for the effect of any medication or supplement on the values in your report. An interpretation that would be accurate for a person taking no medications may be misleading or incorrect for a person whose values are influenced by pharmacological agents.
If you are taking any medications or supplements, share your complete list with your healthcare provider when discussing your lab results. Do not make any changes to your medications or supplements based on the content of a LabsFive report.
12. Mental Health
Receiving information about your health — even educational, non-diagnostic information — can sometimes cause anxiety, distress, or concern, particularly if your report highlights values outside standard reference ranges.
If reading your LabsFive report causes you distress, we encourage you to:
- Contact your healthcare provider to discuss your results in proper clinical context
- Remember that a value outside a reference range does not automatically indicate disease or serious illness
- Seek support from a mental health professional if health-related anxiety is affecting your wellbeing
LabsFive is not a mental health service. We are not equipped to provide emotional support, crisis intervention, or mental health resources. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please contact a crisis service in your country.
We present health information because we believe informed people are empowered people — but we also recognize that information without context can sometimes cause more anxiety than clarity. This is precisely why we consistently encourage you to discuss your results with a doctor who can provide that context.
13. Reliance on Our Content
Your reliance on the content of any LabsFive report is entirely at your own risk.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, LabsFive expressly disclaims all liability for any harm, loss, injury, or adverse outcome — physical, psychological, financial, or otherwise — arising from or related to:

But we also take honesty seriously, and honesty requires us to be clear that educational health information, however detailed and well-crafted, is not a substitute for clinical medical judgment.

14.3 Submit your own labs.
You are responsible for ensuring that the lab document you submit belongs to you. If you are submitting on behalf of another person, you represent that you have their explicit consent and the legal authority to do so.
14.4 Understand the nature of the Service.
You are responsible for understanding, before you purchase, that LabsFive provides educational information — not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment — and that the limitations described in this disclaimer are real and material.
14.5 Contact support if something is wrong.
